Program Purpose:

Reproducible and reliable electrode manufacturing for water quality sensors is essential to ensuring accurate,x000D
low cost, consistent measurements. FREDsense Technologies Corp. has developed a novel, low cost system forx000D
the detection of trace levels of contaminants in water samples using engineered bacteria. The bacteria produce ax000D
quantifiable electrical signal that indicates the amount of a compound present in the water sample. Thex000D
electrical output from the bacteria is both fast and sensitive and is detected by the electrodes, making them anx000D
essential part of the biosensor system. Therefore, a method to fabricate them reliably, quickly and at a low costx000D
are essential for the successful implementation of the FREDsense system into current water monitoringx000D
workflows. This study will determine the optimized electrodes parameters using a sputter deposition approachx000D
to their manufacture.
