Program Purpose:

Submitted by Mohawk College's mHealth & eHealth Development and Innovation Centre (MEDIC), this proposal addresses the need for providing better care for heart disease and stroke patients, as well as the modernization of homecare services for Canada as a whole. Mohawk College will develop a broadened platform, scalable to other provinces, to allow for the integration of new remote monitoring devices and the utilization of modern virtual homecare services such as patient & clinician video conferencing. Development of this platform will allow m-Health Solutions to work with NAIT and Mohawk College to utilize Alberta as a proving ground to provide patients with a scalable 'hybrid' mobile cardiac monitoring device designed for real-time monitoring (m-CARDSTM). Mohawk College's development will also set the foundation for M-health Solutions to deploy additional biostatistics platforms for the monitoring of: blood pressure, oximetry, glucose, and sleep apnea among others. x000D

Working closely with NAIT and m-Health Solutions, new technologies and standards will need to be identified and developed in order to have a platform that is scalable to multiple provinces. Implications include the ability to provide the industry partner with the ability to open channels outside of Ontario itself, and expand to the rest of Canada. x000D
