Recipient's Legal Name:
Wilkinson, Kevin (Université de Montréal)
Program:
Engage Grants for Universities
Program Purpose:

The goal of this Engage project is to facilitate the design and production of novel polystyrenes for chemical andx000D
industrial applications of our partner, Enerkem. The Enerkem uses highly selective catalysts to formx000D
oxygenated compounds by CO hydrogenation and by ethylene hydroformylation over catalysts under highx000D
pressure. Modifications of the Rh/SiO2 catalyst, including its size, have a great influence on CO hydrogenationx000D
at high pressure. The high performance of the heterogenous catalysts has been attributed to a combination of ax000D
high ligand concentration and a flexible polymer framework. The objective of the project is to determine thex000D
properties of several Rh catalysts, including their surface size, morphology, as well as their oxidation state.x000D
This collaboration will lead to the manufacturing and development of more appropriate products for futurex000D
markets.
