Additional Information:
Grant or Award spanning more than one fiscal year (2017-2018 to 2018-2019).
Recipient's Legal Name:
Etele, Jason (Carleton University)
Program:
Engage Grants for Universities
Program Purpose:
The goal of this project is to develop the capability to predict the growth of ice on GNSS antennas placed inx000D
remote and harsh environmental conditions. This information will be used to determine operational limitsx000D
beyond which performance is no longer acceptable. Furthermore, this project will explore the possibility ofx000D
using aerodynamic shaping to minimize ice accretion to enhance operational limits and reduce the frequency ofx000D
on site service. Numerical simulations will be used to determine the flowfield about the antennas while ax000D
custom ice accretion model based on the Stefan problem will be used to determine ice accretion.
