Kempf, Achim (University of Waterloo)
Program:
Engage Grants for Universities
Program Purpose:

ubiquitously in the development and application of advanced technologies in science and engineering. To meetx000D
this need, Maplesoft, based in Waterloo, Ontario, produces Maple, a mathematical and numerical programmingx000D
language that is one of the leading mathematical software platforms worldwide. It is used internationally forx000D
research in industry and academia, as well as an educational tool.x000D
Recent research by Prof. Achim Kempf at the University of Waterloo (and his collaborators) has yielded ax000D
powerful new integration technique. The new methods allow one to reduce large classes of integrals tox000D
successive differentiations. This provides powerful new methods since, in contrast to prior methods,x000D
differentiations are very suitable for implementation in a computer algorithm. Implementing this new methodx000D
in the Maple software engine will greatly increase the speed of computation, enlarge the library of integralsx000D
computable with Maple, and provide powerful new Canadian-made tools for engineers and scientistsx000D
worldwide.
