Program Purpose:

Climate change is recognized internationally as a global concern and one that is growing. Municipalities have ax000D
responsibility to mitigate climate change and plan infrastructure with careful consideration to it. GM BluePlanx000D
Engineering (GMBP) is an engineering/consulting firm that specializes in asset management and infrastructurex000D
planning services for municipalities. The primary objective of this research project is to develop a tool thatx000D
GMBP will use to assist municipalities in making environmentally conscious decisions and reduce carbonx000D
footprints for planned infrastructure construction projects. The developed tool will enable municipalities tox000D
accurately determine greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the construction and rehabilitation of linearx000D
infrastructure assets (roads, watermains, sewers). The results of this research project will not only providex000D
GMBP with a unique service offering, it will allow municipalities to incorporate GHG emissions into theirx000D
infrastructure planning decision making.
