Program Purpose:

Fiera Biological Consulting Ltd. (Fiera) seeks to develop customized algorithms and workflows to automatex000D
the assessment of wetland condition from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) imagery. Achieving accuratex000D
assessments of wetland condition requires detailed and specialized input datasets that allow for differentiationx000D
and identification of land cover types. The proposed partnership between Fiera and Saskatchewanx000D
Polytechnic's (Sask Polytech) Natural Resource Technology (NRT) program is focused on applyingx000D
UAV-borne LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) and multispectral imaging technology to develop newx000D
methods for accurate classification and inventory of wetland vegetation. These technological advancementsx000D
will enhance wetland management and conservation practices, give Fiera a competitive advantage in deliveringx000D
services to clients, and will provide staff and students of Sask Polytech with a unique applied research andx000D
training opportunity.
