Collaborative Research and Development Grants - Project
Program Purpose:

Acquisition of remote sensing data is undergoing a revolution with a large number of new, innovativex000D
platforms all promising to deliver high quality and timely remote sensing imagery. One key growth area isx000D
unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) which can fly autonomously.UAV's offer a unique perspective to datax000D
acquisition as they potentially can be more cost effective for acquiring very high spatial resolution imageryx000D
compared to conventional manned aircraft or satellite.x000D
In this CRD grant we have developed a srong and robust collaboration with Spire Aerobotics Inc., a BC based company specializing in acquiring and processing UAV data. The company has a successful history of data acquisition and isx000D
intimately aware of the regulations and requirements for UAV data capture in BC and beyond. In this CRD we will focusx000D
on a number of key forestry application UAV case studies, which will serve as research demonstration cases for thex000D
company to continue to develop applications in the forestry market.
