Engage Grants for universities
Program Purpose:

Hydrogen, if produced from a renewable source such as water, is a promising solution to the climate change and global energyx000D
need. Meanwhile, thanks to its various energy conversion technologies through either powering fuel cells or fuelling engines andx000D
turbines, hydrogen is a green fuel to transportation and power generation. The challenges exist to distribute and store hydrogenx000D
with the desired energy density and required safety. Cleanwave is a technology company currently developing on demandx000D
hydrogen energy products. The existing research and development focus is optimizing and controlling catalyzed aluminum waterx000D
reactions for utilization of the heat and hydrogen produced for transportation and power production. Through this OCE fundedx000D
project, the University of Waterloo will work with Cleanwave and target a couple critical technical issues such as reactantsx000D
formulation and process control, which hinder the commercialization of their hydrogen production technology. Upon the completionx000D
of this project, the research and development will be extended to design and scale up the reactors for difficult applications.
