Program Purpose:

Ring is a decentralized Voice-over-IP application developed by Savoir-Faire Linux. We propose to adapt Ringx000D
to work in a mobile ad hoc network (MANET), and to evaluate the resulting performance and scalability. Thisx000D
will require replacing the reliance on the internet infrastructure with the use of a multi-hop MANET routingx000D
algorithm such as OLSR. Ring relies on a Distributed Hash Table (DHT) to store credentials and messages.x000D
The messages required to maintain the overlay topology of the DHT are a performance bottleneck whenx000D
deployed in a MANET, and so we will replace the existing DHT with a cross-layer version which usesx000D
topology information from the underlying MANET.
