Recipient's Legal Name:
Griesbauer, Hardy (College of New Caledonia)
Program:
Engage Grants for colleges
Program Purpose:

The College of New Caledonia and International Quest Engineering Ltd. are partnering to develop a novelx000D
application of the zero-energy Ram pump to generate pressurized water and compressed air. This system can bex000D
used in water treatment operations for in-site cleaning of the filter membranes. The main benefit is the result ofx000D
increased productivity by extending the maintenance cycles of the filtration systems. Ram pump requires nox000D
external source of energy beyond that supplied by an existing water flow; therefore, an additional benefit of thex000D
proposed application will be the decrease in greenhouse gas emissions.x000D
International Quest Engineering Ltd. will use this proof of concept to design proprietary industrial equipmentx000D
that can be tested in a production environment and access new markets, especially in the mining sector. Thisx000D
research project leverages the College's rapidly developing strength and capacity in green energy technology.x000D
Students involved in this project will learn applied research skills related to: (i) water treatment and filtrationx000D
systems, (ii) technical drafting and design, and (iii) off-grid technology and applications.
