Recipient's Legal Name:
Gupta, Rishi (University of Victoria)
Program:
Engage Plus Grants for universities
Program Purpose:

The innovative technique previously developed with the industry partner utilizing the reinforcement capacity ofx000D
reclaimed glass fibers will be further explored to develop high strength fiber reinforced acrylic concretex000D
(HSFRAC) bath tubs. The manufacturing of HSFRAC material would include investigating the performance ofx000D
different material combinations, (i) fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) alone; (ii) acrylic + FRC combination forx000D
manufacturing of Green bathtubs. Such bathtubs which are produced using waste and recyclable materialx000D
would significantly contribute to Zero Waste policy; lower CO2 emissions associated with cement production;x000D
and reduce landfills. Thus provide an environmentally friendly solution to a chronic issue, while beingx000D
cost-effective as well.
