Grants and Contributions:
Grant or Award spanning more than one fiscal year (2017-2018 to 2018-2019).
Transportation infrastructure, including roads, pipelines, transmission lines and railways, provide necessaryx000D
interconnectivity within the country, and their adequate performance is a matter of continuous monitoring andx000D
maintenance. Transportation infrastructure is exposed to geohazards associated with the varied regions inx000D
Canada and the seasonal weather fluctuations in temperature and precipitation. Alberta's mountainous regions,x000D
soft ground in the Prairies and steep river valleys contribute to a wide range of geohazards threateningx000D
transportation corridors. Geohazards can lead to excessive deformation of infrastructure, collapse or blockage,x000D
and excessive loading on structures which may result in substandard conditions, posing risks to users,x000D
environment and transported goods. The proposed research will assess geohazard monitoring technologiesx000D
along transportation corridors in Alberta to develop best practices for implementing monitoring programs.
