Program Purpose:

With exponential growth in internet traffic data centers require wider band width interfaces at affordable powerx000D
to keep cooling energy cost low and to be environment friendly. Consequently, many hardware challenges mustx000D
be resolved to enable 100+ Gb/s interface by 2020. One of the key challenges is higher speed Analog to digitalx000D
converters (ADC) that must provide higher resolution within acceptable thermal limits. This engage proposalx000D
explores some of those options in close collaboration with Microsemi Inc. located in Vancouver, Canada.x000D
Instead of taking a traditional approach to rely on technology to improve the power efficiency, here we arex000D
looking at a novel architectural innovation to improve the information efficiency of the conversion process andx000D
achieve 32 GS/s Analog to Digital Converter within 350 mW power consumption.
