Grant or Award spanning more than one fiscal year (2017-2018 to 2018-2019).
Recipient's Legal Name:
Kirchen, Patrick (The University of British Columbia)
Program:
Engage Grants for universities
Program Purpose:
Canada has significant natural gas resources, which are primarily extracted and exported or used for heat andx000D
power production domestically. It is economically attractive to also convert the extracted natural gas tox000D
higher-value feedstocks for use in other industries, e.g., conversion of natural gas to ethane for production ofx000D
polyethylene (plastics). In this work, we will develop a new research reactor to evaluate the potential forx000D
producing higher value products from natural gas using membrane-based oxidative coupling of methane.
