Grants and Contributions:
Grant or Award spanning more than one fiscal year (2017-2018 to 2018-2019).
The health sector is facing numerous challenges. For example, the emergence of multidrug-resistant pathogensx000D
requires the development of new antibiotic drugs to protect the population. In this context, organic synthesisx000D
plays a vital role. Indeed, the development of new synthetic methods and reagents for the creation andx000D
evaluation of new molecules of biological interest is the foundation on which we improve the drugs availablex000D
to treat illnesses. Consequently, there is a need to expand the pool of reagents available supporting drugx000D
development. One strategy is to use libraries of high-value building blocks reagents that enable rapid creationx000D
of complex and diverse molecules.x000D
Intellisyn is thus looking to acquire a diversified collection of highly-functionalized organotrifluoroborate saltsx000D
and boronic acids, which will greatly expand their reagents library. The goal of this project is to create suchx000D
library, using reagents recently developed in our group. This will greatly expand the reagents library ofx000D
Intellisyn. The compounds furnished through this project are not available commercially and will greatlyx000D
facilitate their drug development pipeline. It will consequently contribute to their competitiveness andx000D
expansion in Canada. In addition, this project will enable the development of new arylation methods that willx000D
be useful in the field of organic synthesis.
