Program Purpose:

The focus of this research project is to investigate the potential for alternative materials to replace wood in anx000D
existing clarinet design. Backun Musical Services Ltd. is a world leader in designing and manufacturing highx000D
end clarinets from exotic hardwoods. Recently, these woods have become more difficult to procure and havex000D
been put on a list that restricts their international trade. In addition, they are not particularly durable and resultx000D
in a product with a moderate lifespan.
