Grants and Contributions:
Grant or Award spanning more than one fiscal year. (2017-2018 to 2018-2019)
Sanofi Pasteur is developing novel vaccine products, which contain antigens adsorbed to different types ofx000D
adjuvants. Characterization and comprehensive analysis of the antigen-adjuvant interactions is of greatx000D
importance for this development. Traditional ways of characterization, however do not allow measurement ofx000D
molecular forces acting between reagents on molecular level which is of key importance.x000D
The proposed new collaboration between Sanofi Pasteur and Dr.Zoya Leonenko's laboratory at the Universityx000D
of Waterloo has a goal to characterize adjuvant-antigen interactions by advanced biophysical methods, such asx000D
Atomic force microscopy, atomic force spectroscopy, and surface plasmon resonance, which would enhancex000D
the knowledge of the forces involved in such interactions and would help in the understanding of the relevancex000D
of the strength of antigen adsorption to adjuvants in Sanofi Pasteur's vaccine products. This new knowledgex000D
will lead to new product development and will help to accelerate pharmaceutical research by providing anx000D
advanced vaccine thus will contribute to the improvement of health of Canadian and worldwide community.
