Program Purpose:

The strength properties of paper are extremely important for both manufacturers and consumers. Paperx000D
manufacturers seek a high level of control over the strength characteristics of paper products to produce sheetsx000D
of desired quality while maintaining cost efficiency and targeted production rates. Chemical additives arex000D
routinely employed in the tissue making process as strengthening agents. Such additives are typicallyx000D
comprised of water soluble polymers that can suitably interact with cellulose fibers. This project seeks tox000D
develop a new polymer additive that can impart unique strength properties to tissue during the production stagex000D
with the goal of improving the efficiency of tissue manufacturing.
