Program Purpose:

The success of Canadian athletes in international games depends on their advanced training strategies to improve their performance and prevent sport-related injury. The concussion is among the most critical sport-related injuries, and various attempts have been made to reduce its risk. The long-term goal of this project is to develop an instrumented testing device for body strength evaluation and demonstrate its efficiency in reducing the risk of concussion. Translating the knowledge generated by this project will lead to the development of new training programs for athletes with the potential to lessen the incidence of concussion. The industry partner is active in the development and implementation of safety training and healthcare technologies for and would commercialize the outcome of this research. This research would also contribute to the training of high-qualified personnel in the fields of mechanical and biomedical engineering.x000D
