Suncayr is a company based out of Waterloo, Ontario that is using nanotechnology to develop uniquex000D
preventive measures to avoid the common problems associated with over-exposure to ultraviolet radiation.x000D
Suncayr utilize color changing nanotechnology that indicates when the effectiveness of the applied sunscreen isx000D
diminishing, notifying by color change and indicating the time for sun screen reapplication. A crucial part ofx000D
this technology is the ability of Suncayr's patch to imitate the interaction of human skin with sunscreen, so itx000D
will be removed at comparable rates as it is from human skin during different activities and if not enoughx000D
sunscreen is applied to provide appropriate UV protection.x000D
While Suncayr was able to engineer a proprietary technology that is functional in most scenarios, insufficientx000D
accuracy was observed under certain circumstances. To identify and overcome these challenges, anx000D
understanding of the interactions and processes on a molecular level as well as in the domain of surfacex000D
interactions will be provided by the research of the Taylor group at the University of Toronto. The Taylorx000D
laboratory has extensive experience with the synthesis and characterization of bio-polymers and non-covalentx000D
host-guest interactions. Along with this unique set of expertise, the Taylor laboratory has access to ax000D
world-class analytical department for structure and physical property characterization in solution and onx000D
surfaces.
