Recipient's Legal Name:
Rowe, Andrew Michael (University of Victoria)
Program:
Engage Grants for Universities
Program Purpose:

Photobioreactors (PBR) for reliable and cost effective production of algae are affected by radiation input,x000D
growth medium temperature, and transport of nutrients. The need to dissipate heat results in numerous heavyx000D
and bulky heat sinks mounted in various locations around the reactor. Combined, the set of LED arrays andx000D
thermal management structures have a significant impact on PBR cost and weight. The goal of this project is tox000D
improve the cost effectiveness of Industrial Plankton PBRs by optimizing the thermal and fluid dynamicx000D
aspects of the design.
