Program Purpose:

Dairy Quality Inc., based in Newmarket, Ontario, is a solutions-based development company that providesx000D
dairy producers with affordable and reliable diagnostic tools to conduct "cow-side" (i.e. point-of-source) milkx000D
testing. The Dairy Quality technology platform is the "Dairy Health Check" (DHC), consisting of a portablex000D
fluorescence microscopy module that assembles onto an Apple iPod®. Integrated within this technology is ax000D
single immunoassay for somatic cell counts (SCC), used to categorize milk quality by identifying the potentialx000D
of mastitis-causing organisms. Through this project, Seneca researchers will expand the functionality of the DQx000D
platform/point-of-use technology by developing additional user-friendly, cost-effective, "cow-side" tests.
