Program Purpose:

Aging pipeline infrastructure is a challenge faced by municipalities across Ontario, costing billions of dollars tox000D
replace, in some cases unnecessarily. Condition assessment is a critical first step in the management of buriedx000D
assets. Acoustic testing of remaining pipe wall thickness is an innovative tool used for condition assessment,x000D
providing a set of virtual eyes on the quality and integrity of pipelines. Current sensor data is not accessiblex000D
online or remotely; it must be accessed manually and downloaded on site, an activity which is both costly andx000D
time consuming. Through this applied research project, in collaboration with Fleming Colleges Centre forx000D
Sustainable Municipalities ("CSM"), a condition assessment technology will be further developed andx000D
advanced, enhancing its ability to quantify piping conditions, precisely and remotely. This research project willx000D
focus on the development of a cloud-based platform, providing remote access to condition assessment sensorsx000D
and data. The results of this applied research project will be used to advance Echologics' current offerings,x000D
providing them with remote access and a tool that is precise, reliable, secure and low cost. These benefits willx000D
provide Echologics with a unique product, expanding their market opportunities and increasing their sales.
