Program Purpose:

A wide diversity of nutrient regulations exists throughout the world. The question arose which are the mostx000D
efficient nutrient regulation structures to protect environmental and human health. For this, a modelling studyx000D
will be developed to better understand the interactions between nutrient regulations and environmentalx000D
protection. It will be used to investigate which regulations can stimulate innovation in the wastewater industryx000D
and which likely inhibit innovation and lead to excessive conservatism and cost. The gained knowledge willx000D
help HDR Inc., the industrial partner of this project, to better mediate in permit negotiations betweenx000D
municipalities and regulators regarding wastewater treatment infrastructure and promote innovative solutions.
