Traditional stone walls for family homes or commercial buildings are very expensive in terms of material andx000D
labor cost. Fortunately, nowadays advanced materials and design tools can offer prefabricated wall panels readyx000D
to install with designs that mimic brick, stone etc. However, these solutions are hindered by numerousx000D
shortcomings as the ease of installation and the durability issues. The installation consists of joining thex000D
prefabricated wall to the existing wall, hence the importance of the joint. This project proposes an innovativex000D
solution inspired from the click interlock concept and which combines ease of installation, overall low cost andx000D
increased durability. In partnership with Polytechnique Montréal, Elegant Flooring Ltd. intend to design,x000D
manufacture and test the click interlock concept for the joining of prefabricated walls to existing walls. By thex000D
completion of the project, the company will be handed a real scale prototype with the mold that served to thex000D
manufacture of the joint components. Also, the company will witness the direct testing of its concept intendedx000D
to quantify the ease of installation and measure the ultimate strength of the solution. All the know-howx000D
developed during the project will be recorded in technical reports and appropriate software.
