Program Purpose:

Virtual Reality (VR) environments have been the purview of specialized gaming engines, but internet webx000D
servers and associated networking approaches promise to broaden the reach of VR, which will permit manyx000D
more uses of the technology including education and museums. WebVR is a forthcoming standard for VR inx000D
the browser, but it comes with many performance and optimization challenges. In a VR environment, the framex000D
rate and fidelity of interaction are all critical in order to prevent simulator sickness and maintain the illusion ofx000D
operating in the real world. The use of lightweight Docker containers enables subsystems to process graphicalx000D
operations in parallel while meeting the performance expectations of the user. This project considers back-endx000D
architecture and web rendering technologies to maintain realistic virtual environments.
