Program Purpose:

The proposed project is to establish feasibility of fluorescence imaging of bacterial load in vivo and tox000D
investigate the possibility of quantification of bacteria present. The main research challenges are (1) thex000D
identification of the optimal excitation with potential for assessment of bacterial load in realistic settings, andx000D
(2) demonstrate the usefulness of the fluorescence imaging system for bacterial load visualization in ax000D
non-invasive manner. To this end endogenous fluorescence imaging has the capacity to assess bacterial load forx000D
clinically-relevant bacteria. Our group has significant expertise in the area of microbial surfaces and thex000D
utilization of fluorescence spectroscopy to study those systems. This collaboration would help Oxilightx000D
developing fluorescence imaging modality complementary to its multispectral imaging device.
