Newcrete Investments Limited Partnership is in the process of producing pumpable concrete with low-cementx000D
content for various applications to provide their customers top quality concrete products at competitive prices.x000D
However, their attempts failed to produce pumpable concrete with sufficient workability and/or strength. Thex000D
main purpose of this project is to develop novel low-cement concrete mixtures with relatively highx000D
compressive strength, slump, and sufficient pumpability. The project will examine the feasibility of usingx000D
viscosity modifying admixtures (VMAs) and supplementary cementing materials (SCMs) to improve thex000D
compressive strength, slump, and pumpability of low-cement content concrete. The research program willx000D
consist of a series of laboratory tests on the slump and compressive strength to determine the optimum dosagex000D
and type of both VMAs and SCMs. Some selected successful mixtures will then be tested under full-scalex000D
pumping tests at the company's facilities to assess the pumpability followed by a statistical analysis of thex000D
results. The findings of this research will contribute to the company's future applications of low-cement contentx000D
pumpable concrete by allowing them to offer high quality products at relatively low cost. This collaborationx000D
will result in a potential growth of the company (additional employees and expanding their product line) and tox000D
eventually benefit the Canadian economy.
