Program Purpose:

Inorganic acids will be used to anodize the aluminum pieces. The anodized aluminum pieces will be processedx000D
individually by two different methods. The first method will involve dyeing using organic pigments to obtainx000D
black colours. An aqueous solution of cyanine will be used as IR absorbing organic dye. The second methodx000D
will involve the use of inorganic materials, namely, vanadium oxide (VO2) as well as cobalt sulphide (CoS) tox000D
obtain black coating on the anodized surface. These dyes/coatings incorporated anodized aluminum will bex000D
used as customized pieces for our specific industrial partners who are specialized in the fabrication of opticalx000D
devices such as body parts of the cameras used on the surface of the earth or in the spacecrafts.
