Title:
Exploring application of eDNA metabarcoding for marine biodiversity monitoring in Gwaii Haanas
Agreement Number:
GC-1599
Agreement Value:
$12,639.00
Agreement Date:
Dec 13, 2021 - Apr 30, 2022
Description:
This contribution supports exploration of environmental DNA (eDNA) as a tool in marine biodiversity monitoring, to address a priority science gap for evidence-based conservation decision-making in Parks Canada’s ecosystems. Novel technologies and methods such as eDNA metabarcoding have potential to augment observational surveys by facilitating broader spatial and temporal sampling that can add to our understanding of ecosystems. This project will pilot cutting-edge eDNA analysis methods that will generate new information to support conservation of biodiversity and restoration of marine ecosystems.
