This grant supports the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society to host the 2023 Welcoming the Sun event as a celebration of Indigenous culture, history, and knowledge at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site. Taking place both indoors and outdoors, there will be opportunities for visitors to connect to the local Indigenous community through art, story, song, dance and education.
