Description:
The objectives of this grant are to: 1) support the implementation of the Rights and Reconciliation Agreement concerning Forillon National Park; 2) establish a governance framework that gives greater importance to Indigenous stewardship, particularly for the protection of natural and cultural heritage, the practice of traditional activities and harvesting, the protection of Mi'gmaq culture and opportunities for economic development; 3) strengthen the relation that Gespeg members maintain with Forillon National Park, through the exemption of entry fees and the practice of traditional and harvesting activities; and 4) protect Mi’gmaq culture and heritage.

Grants for the Implementation of Rights and Reconciliation Agreements in Atlantic Canada
Program Purpose:
The objectives of these grants are 1) to support the Rights and Reconciliation Agreements signed by Parks Canada and the Indigenous Nations included in the Historic Peace and Friendship Treaties in Atlantic Canada (the Mi’kmaq, Maliseet and Peskotomuhkati Nations), 2) build capacity in Indigenous communities to participate with Parks Canada as co-managers of national parks and national historic sites, 3) foster re-connection with the lands through traditional stewardship practices and 4) protect Mi’kmaq, Maliseet and Peskotomuhkati culture and heritage.
