Description:
Facilitation of Syilx Okanagan Activities, Engagement and Collaboration in the National Parks: This contribution supports activities and engagement of Okanagan Indian Band, related to the operations and management of Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks and Rogers Pass National Historic Site. Development of a Syilx Okanagan Indigenous Guardians Program: The contribution supports the development of an Indigenous Guardian Program proposal with clear terms of reference and a timeline for implementation, including a pilot phase. The Indigenous Guardian Program will reflect the unique needs and visions of the Okangan Indian Band and its people and will help maintain and revitalize connections with lands, waters, and wildlife that sustain the systems of Indigenous knowledge, culture and stewardship practices. Development of a Stories of Canada Project in Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks: The contribution supports initial work and collaboration on the development and delivery of Indigenous content and stories in Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks. It includes funding to support Indigenous research and research capacity. Engagement on the Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks Fire Management Plan Renewal Process: This contribution supports the initial engagement efforts of Okanagan Indian Band in the renewal process for Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks Fire Management Plan. Facilitation and engagement for the development of a multi-species action plan for Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks: This contribution supports the involvement of Okanagan Indian Band representatives, Syilx Okanagan Elders, and community members in the co-development of a multi-species action plan for Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks.
