Grants and Contributions:

1. Program recipients engage in activities or initiatives that address any form of racism or religious discrimination and promote Canada's multicultural reality;
2. Communities have improved practices (organizational or social) that address systemic barriers such as racism and religious discrimination, and which promote Canada's multicultural reality;
3. Canadians value diversity.

Recipient type is currently not captured in our current system. Agreement start date is based on the approval date and in some cases on eligible activities due to current system limitations.

The program (hereafter referred to as the MAR Program) is how the Government of Canada implements the Canadian Multiculturalism Act or the intentions of the Act. It also aligns with Canada’s Anti-Racism Strategy as well as with other federal legislation that articulate the values held by Canadians, among them the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Canadian Human Rights Act, and the Employment Equity Act.
