The Public Health Agency of Canada is developing Canada’s Pandemic Preparedness Plan to strengthen readiness for future respiratory pandemics. A distinctions‑based Indigenous engagement process ensures First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) perspectives, priorities, and lived experiences inform the plan. The project gathers lessons from COVID‑19, supports culturally grounded, community‑led input, and develops recommendations reflecting FNIM worldviews. PHAC previously funded the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) and the Métis National Council (MNC) to ensure equitable participation, and launched a directed solicitation to ITK and regional Métis organizations.
