Grants and Contributions:
Canadians have access to financial support in the rare instance of a serious and permanent injury experienced as a result of receiving a vaccine authorized by Health Canada.
PHAC continues to target outreach to increase awareness of the program among healthcare professionals, who are best placed to support access to the program for those who experience a serious and permanent injury.
The Pan-Canadian Vaccine Injury Support Program (VISP) ensures that all people in Canada who experience a serious and permanent injury as a result of receiving a Health Canada-authorized vaccine, administered in Canada on or after December 8, 2020, have fair and timely access to financial support. The exception are people vaccinated in Québec who will receive coverage from the longstanding Québec program.
An independent administrator was selected via an open call for applications to administer the VISP (except for Québec) using contribution funding. Québec is continuing to deliver its Vaccine Injury Compensation Program with federal contribution funding.
