Grants and Contributions:
Residents in eligible communities have access to culturally appropriate, community-based nutrition education initiatives. Through these initiatives, residents increase their knowledge of healthy eating and strengthen their skills in selecting and preparing healthy store-bought and traditional or country foods. As a result, residents are better equipped to make informed food choices and adopt healthier eating practices that support overall health and well-being.
This program supports culturally appropriate retail and community-based nutrition education initiatives to promote healthy eating in isolated northern communities, as part of the Nutrition North Canada program led by Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada. It aims to increase knowledge of healthy eating and strengthen skills in selecting and preparing healthy store-bought and traditional or country foods. The program also builds on existing community-based activities and partnerships to support sustainable, locally relevant approaches that reflect community needs and priorities.
