Program:
Preventing Family Violence
Program Purpose:

The Preventing Family Violence program invests in the delivery and testing of health promotion programs and interventions that prevent family violence and improve health outcomes for survivors, including child maltreatment, youth dating violence, intimate partner violence, and elder abuse. Some interventions work directly with participants, while others equip health and social service professionals to respond safely and effectively. The main objective is to increase the uptake of effective health promotion interventions by funding research that builds the evidence base on what works, for whom, and where, using trauma- and violence-informed approaches. This program contributes to the Government of Canada's Strategy to Prevent and Address Gender-Based Violence.
