Description:
The objectives of this project are to facilitate outreach and education opportunities in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) for public school (K-12) students and youth in Beaufort Delta communities. This will be done by enhancing the current programming that is offered in Inuvik, and expanding the programming into seven additional communities in the region.

Expected Results:

Knowledge related to STEM fields, and the results of research projects in the Beaufort Delta region, will be mobilized in new ways and to a new audience. WARC staff will use a variety of approaches to increase youth and student exposure to STEM. This will include structured activities, discovery-based learning, and interactions with research professionals such as members of the research community, local knowledge holders, and the WARC staff themselves.

Program Purpose:

This Program aims to lead the mobilization of polar science and technology into action. CHARS will analyse and disseminate polar knowledge from its Science and Technology Program, as well as that from current federal, territorial and other stakeholders, and investments to inform management, programming and policies; promote Artic science and technology nationally and internationally; and build capacity through training, outreach, and learning opportunities. This will ensure polar knowledge is relevant to stakeholders and builds a science culture in Canada.
