Grants and Contributions:
The harvest study will provide up-to-date, fine scale information regarding current harvest land- use, species observations, and species harvested. The use of GPS tracking devices will provide accuracy and real-time reporting that has never been recorded in that detail and scale. The data will then be linked to data from previous and ongoing traditional and local knowledge workshops and semi-structured interviews with elders and active harvesters. In close collaboration with local harvesters, elders and youth, we will identify and discuss changes over time, changes in distribution and location of species and future adjustments to harvest activities.
The amendment made was to the length of the agreement. No additional funds were added.
This Program aims to lead the mobilization of polar science and technology into action. CHARS will "analyse and disseminate polar knowledge from its Science and Technology Program, as well as that from current federal, territorial and other stakeholders, and investments to inform management, programming and policies; promote Artic science and technology nationally and internationally; and build capacity through training, outreach, and learning opportunities. This will ensure polar knowledge is relevant to stakeholders and builds a science culture in Canada.
