This research will study a new species of the zoonotic, muscle-dwelling nematode Trichinella, T. chanchalensis, which was recently described in wolverine in the Yukon and Northwest Territories, based only on molecular detection by answering these research questions: 1. What is the host range in the North of animals infected with the new species of Trichinella, Trichinella chanchalensis? 2. What is the geographic range of Trichinella chanchalensis? 3. What is the diversity, intensity, and prevalence of Trichinella species in the North?
