Description:
1. Better connect small vessel boaters: develop an App utilizing Starlink (a global internet network) to support Sailing Plan users across Canada including Indigenous and remote communities. 2. Better inform boaters: integrate the App with ECCC weather data to ensure boaters can plan a safe trip and respond to changing conditions. 3. Provide marine safety organizations greater insight: enhance the Sailing Plan Dashboard to better understand boater movement and to support two-way communication.

Short term: Making the boater community: Safer through providing better connectivity to Sailing Plan emergency contracts and real-time weather services while on the water; Better prepared through seamlessly providing access to weather data while planning excursions using the Sailing Plan App; More informed through an increased ability to access timely and relevant weather information regardless of their proximity to land; and Assured of the well-being of family members and employees who are on the water. Providing the SAR community: Better access to detailed and up-to-date data to inform resourcing; and Greater insight into boater traffic patterns, time-based hotspots, bottlenecks and areas of high incident.
