Description:
This proposal from the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) follows a request for assistance in light of the third wave of COVID-19 infections in the first half of 2021 and emergence of COVID-19 variants of concern. Based on discussions with the government of Manitoba, Health Canada, and Public Safety Canada, there is an urgent need for medical personnel to ease the staffing burden of ICUs, sub-critical care, and other medical settings in Manitoba in light of increased and forecast caseload.

Program Purpose:
The objective of the Program is to enable the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) to support Canadians’ needs stemming from COVID-19, floods and wildfires.
Through the provision of funding to the CRC under this program, the CRC will have the resources to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on Canadians as well as that of floods and wildfires.
