Description:
Based on discussions with the government of Yukon and Public Safety Canada, there is an urgent need for medical personnel to ease the staffing burden in medical settings in the territory in light of increased and forecast caseload. The CRC will offer up to fifteen qualified medical personnel to be seconded to augment capacities in COVID testing, contact tracing, public health and community nursing, and paramedics in isolation facilities.

Expected Results:

Yukon will receive necessary surge support in the areas of COVID-19 testing, contact tracing/case management, community health nursing, and paramedics. Staff currently working in these fields will receive needed support to reduce workload and residents of Yukon will continue to receive quality care, mitigating the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak in the Territory.

(HWF) Supporting a Humanitarian Workforce to Respond to COVID-19 and Other Large-Scale Emergencies
Program Purpose:

The objective of the Program is to enable the CRC to support Canadians’ needs stemming from COVID-19, floods and wildfires. Through the provision of funding to the CRC under this program, the CRC will have the resources to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on Canadians as well as that of floods and wildfires.
