Description:
This application is for Phase Three (2021/2022) and involves the identification of a minimum of six high priority watersheds and their constituent communities, that will serve to: (a) field test the technical specifications and guidance documents directly with willing municipalities, (b) prepare detailed flood maps for the communities involved in the study area, (c) lay the groundwork for the full provincial roll-out of the flood line mapping project, and (d) prepare the way for the next steps, which involve using flood line maps to implement the NS Statement of Provincial Interest on Flooding.

Expected Results:
Nova Scotia Department of Municipal Affairs and the Nova Scotia Geographical Information Services (NSGIS) are collaborating to provide all communities throughout Nova Scotia with coastal storm surge and riverine floodplain maps that reflect flood return scenarios, and storm surge flooding limits that are based scientifically-predicted climate change trends and data.
