Grants and Contributions:
The short term outcomes include using the knowledge obtained from a CSBC research study in behavior barriers & motivators & research built into the campaign to develop messaging strategies to reduce the likelihood of people getting into trouble on the water & the need for SAR call-outs. The campaigns will start with highly creative, boating safety messages & social media traditionally delivered to attract attention, & then use AR & “accompanying” mobile web sites to provide a full story. Medium term: These include the longer term changing of boating behavior, which will lead to less calls on SAR resources & fewer fatalities. The effectiveness measurement of the program is through quantitative research & distribution success with measurement of media impressions & online analytics of AR activations & click to the web pages. The findings of Boss both in creative execution & technology uptake will be widely shared with other boating safety stakeholders to aid in their own outreach activities.
