Description:
The Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC)- Public Safety Implementation Team will host a community safety gathering/meeting to develop a comprehensive strategy to address safety concerns amongst affiliated PAGC communities. The three-day event will host individuals, agencies and organizations who will present various strategies and options to potentially respond to on-going crime and safety concerns.

The expected immediate to long-term outcomes of this project will include: Improved collaboration, partnership and coordination amongst programs and agencies that support crime prevention and community safety; Increased community safety in PAGC communities by responding to root causes of crime and social disorder; Increased community engagement, leadership and ownership; Increased awareness of crime and wellness programming and initiatives that support community safety; Increased capacity by communities to respond to community safety concerns; and the development of a comprehensive strategy to respond to crime and safety concerns.

The purpose of the contributions is to provide support to Aboriginal organizations (on and off-reserve), Aboriginal governments and municipalities in collaboration with Aboriginal organizations and or communities to develop tailored approaches to community safety, alternatives to incarceration and reintegration of Aboriginal offenders that are responsive to the concerns, priorities and unique circumstances of Aboriginal communities.
