Description:
This is a two year pilot project to implement a shared CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) for Manitoba post-secondary institutions. It will involve hiring a CISO and developing the procedural, tactical and governance structure to move to a permanent solution for the entire community.

Expected Results:

Short term - An assessment of the current status of the cybersecurity environment in each participating institution will be done. This assessment will result in a set of generic procedures and principles which like institutions could use in similar assessments. Long term - The final outcome of this project will be a report with recommendations for continuance of the shared CISO model with possible expansion to other institutions who are MRnet members. The report will include policies and procedures, governance structures and a cost sharing algorithm.
