Grants and Contributions:
Increased capacity in NWT to understand and respond to the risks to youth of gang involvement; communities have the capacity to respond to gun and gang violence; gun and gang violence, and the threat of future violence in the future, is reduced in the NWT, thus contributing to a safe and resilient Canada.
The purpose of this amendment is to extend the agreement to March 31, 2024. There is no change to the Public Safety Canada funding amount.
The program purpose is to support law enforcement and intervention initiatives at the provincial/territorial, municipal and community levels by providing funding to provincial and territorial governments to support police services and other organizations in enhancing efforts to prevent, disrupt and combat gun and gang violence, and increase awareness and understanding of related issues.
